REPORT 15 JUN 2008


Criminal Damage At a time unknown last Sunday the council car park pay and display machine was rammed and completely destroyed.
Helicopter A mini digger was abandoned in the early hours of Wednesday morning (03:00am). An area search for the thieves using dogs and helicopter over Tandridge and Woldingham was carried out. On Thursday 12th the helicopter was over Marden Park looking for two males who made off from a van on the A25.
Suspicious Activity On Wed 11th at about mid-day a householder in Southview Rd heard persons in her house, a search by Surrey Police dogs failed to trace anyone Did anyone see any cars race off or suspicious persons/vehicles about this time?
Gangers Hill An unknown male has been sleeping rough in the car park

First the good news!! A person has been arrested in connection with a burglary in Station Road that took place between 28 and 30th May.

Well done the police!

Criminal Damage On Friday 30th May at Marden Park the school fields were driven over by an unknown vehicle .

Fireworks Kids were letting off fireworks at the top of Lunghurst Rd on Monday evening.

Travellers Please remember this is Derby weekend and this tends to bring travellers etc into the area. The nearest reported are on the A22 at the Mormon Temple but please be aware and keep an eye open and if you see anything suspicious call the police on 0845 125 2222 or 999 if an emergency.

26 May 08 Attempt burglary at Butlers Dene Rd Entry not gained.
Unsolicited Alarm Inspections There have been more reports of the Midlands security company phoning households wishing to inspect alarms etc. I cannot say this is a bad or good comapny but I refer you to last weeks report and the advice given by the police! Take great care with telphone cold callers and do not use them unless you are totally sure they are OK and you have some personal recommendations. If you are having alarm problems please take advice from the Crime Prevention Officer and use a local firm! "
Suspicious Men There have been three sightings of 2 suspicious men with eastern European appearance photographing local horses. This could be a steal to order gang? These men have been seen at shows, events and even in a horse owners field taking pictures.They have been seen in a white van registration No 253 XAJ and in a red Land Cruiser. Police are treating this as suspicious so please contact them urgently if you see anything."
Lock Your Doors There have been a number if incidents in the village and surrounding area where thieves have been trying to gain entry by seeking unlocked doors. Please ensure that you lock all doors and windows - especially downstairs when you go out and even if you are down the garden!

Burglary Overnight on Sunday/Monday 18th/19th TWO houses in The Garden Village were broken into and various items stolen. Please call the Police if you have seen or heard anything quoting ref TD/08/891 A burglar is known to be going round simply trying doors until he/she finds an open one! Please remember to lock all doors and windows and if you have an alarm to set it at night.
Theft of catalytic converters A catalytic converter was stolen from a car parked in the council overflow car park. Theft of catalytic converters is occurring all over the country due to the scrap value of these items, the main targets are vans and 4x4's as these are easy to get underneath and cut them off.
Fly Tipping Two instances of fly tipping one at The view point car park and one in Gangers Hill.
Phone Cold Calling Calls have been received from an alarm company called Direct Response. The caller refused to give a contact telephone number to be called back on. Please be careful when you are "cold called" on the phone.

REPORT 18 MAY 2008


On Tuesday 6th a car was attacked in the Council Cart Park at the station. All four windows were smashed, but nothing taken, between 3pm and midnight. At approximately 11.15 am on 12th May a window was broken by a stone (possibly a catapult/or a passing juggernaut), Northdown Rd close to the green. If anyone saw anything please call PCSO Clive.
COLD CALLERS - They are back! Currently asking to repair drives and roofs. As usual they are targeting single and old people. One local lady was very indimidated by two white men in a battered white van and nearyly parted with a ubstantiual amount of cash Luckily she called the police just in time. The message is clear - dont use these traders!
CAUTION There is spate of thefts of oil from central heating oil tanks. This is not just local but is nation wide and is due to the increase in oil price. 1. Please check the security of your tank and 2. If you are offered any oil at a cheap price dont buy it and call the police.

REPORT 3 MAY 2008


Theft. Friday 25th April between 9.00 am and 11.30am items removed from a garage in Lunghurst Road. If anyone saw anything please call PCSO Clive.
Have you lost or found a dog? As from 6th April local authorities have taken over the responsibility for stray dogs. You are no longer able to ask the police to take them! Tandridge District Council phone number during office hours is 01883 722000 or until 9pm 07884 492324. Between 9.00pm and 7.30am call the dog warden on 07831 553906 to arrange to meet the dog warden at Crawley Borough Council town hall to hand over the dog.
Chalkpit Lane Quarry-HGV's threaten village security. I have been asked again to circulate the details of the meeting on 7th May. Please note the change of venue and time. "As reported last week a petition containing over 1200 signatures calling on Surrey County Council to abandon plans for a one-way system or a Haul Road on Chalk Pit Lane will be delivered at a special meeting of the Local Committee on Wednesday 7th May. Due to the expected turnout Tandridge have changed the venue to Oxted School in Bluehouse Lane. The petition will be presented outside the meeting at 18.40 and we need your support. The meeting will then commence at 19.00. To enable us to monitor the level of support please email us at info@TheWA.co.uk if you are able to attend."

REPORT 27 APRIL 2008

Parking Some letters have been issued to cars parked in the Woldingham Road again. I would like to encourage locals not to park on this stretch of road as it encourages others once one car parks there.
News Speed restriction signs have started to be put up this week.Iam reliably informed by TDC, and they should finish by 5th May. There was lots of activity in the Village on Thursday afternoon due to the bad weather a lot of alarms were set off.
Puma The Woldingham Puma was sighted by a local resident Station Road on Monday evening???? In addition I reported a few weeks ago about two lurcher type dogs chasing and killing sheep and if caught they would shot. I am glad to say that one dog has been destroyed and the other has not been seen recently. If any one has any information please call PCSO Clive.
CHALKPIT LANE QUARRY - HEAVY LORRY ACCESS PETITION "The petition organised by the Woldingham Action Group (WAG) with the support of 9 local parishes now totals in excess of 1200 signatures. The Petition will be presented to Surry County Council Councillors by WAG at 1900 hours, just prior to the Special Local Committee Meeting to be held at 1930 hours. on Wednesday 7th May at Tandridge District Council offices in Oxted. Local newspapers will be present and WAG would like as many of you as possible attending the petition presentation which will only take 15 minutes. If you are able to attend please let us know by e mailing us on info@TheWA.co.uk so that we can monitor the level of support and can inform you of any changes to the arrangements. Crime Two cars had windows smashed in church Road on Saturday (9th) eve. Chain and lock stolen from the gate to Woldingham golf course during Tuesday (12th)
Recovered Two keys on a blue plastic fob have been handed in (they are at Oxted Police station)
CCTV CCTV has captured an image of a person attacking a car, it remains to be seen if the image is good enough to ID the offender.
Car Parking Notices of parking advice for cars parked along the Woldingham Road have been issued to all cars parked there this week Copy of notice attached (note copy issued will be on Police headed paper) If you do have a problem passing vehicles, please report it. All instances can then be recorded and used as evidence for parking restrictions.

REPORT 9 FEBRUARY 2008

Car CrimeOn Wednesday 6th one car had its windows smashed and nothing stolen. On Thursday 7th between 8 am and 5 pm 4 cars had windows smashed and little or nothing stolen. If anybody saw anything or can help please contact PCSO Clive asap. Other crime in the area: The majority of crime in the area seems to be vehicle related. There has been a particular prominence in removing catalytic converters from the exhaust system while cars are parked. This particularly applies to large 4 X 4's and transit type vans. Take care where you leave such vehicles. Utility meter readers are about - do check their identity before allowing them in the house. If in doubt tell them to go away! and call the police.

REPORT 1 FEBRUARY 2008

Car Crime On 28th about 14.45 a car parked in Long Hill, waiting for children, had the window smashed and a hand bag stolen. On 31st at 16.20 in Station Road a council van had its windows smashed but nothing taken. WARNING please leave nothing on view when you leave the car!!

 REPORT 25 JANUARY 2008

Car Crime On Friday 18th between 2:30 pm and 6.00 pm window smashed in a car parked Church road (for the station). On Tuesday 22nd between 12:00 and 02.00 am a car in the council car park Woldingham Rd had its window smashed and loose change stolen. A front car number plate was stolen details still to be confirmed.

 REPORT 6 JANUARY 2008

Leaflets: A cleaning company has been ditributing leaflets with only a mobile phone number on the leaflet. Surrey Police advise that companys should have a landline telephone number and an address. Take great care of this one and please note the police advice and don't use them! Fly Tipping Fly Tipping on Thursday 3rd some computer equipment was dumped and bags of rubbish were thrown over the fence at the view point car park on The Ridge.  REPORT 29 DECEMBER

Crime this week: It has been quiet this Christmas week with only one incident to report. Please note this is from a house that has no alarm. The Tandridge Crime Reduction Officer PC John Lee has attended to assist with security advice. If any one would like to talk about security in their houses please contact PC Clive and he will arrange for PC John Lee to pay a visit - if you have not done this it is well worth it! Dont wait until it is too late.  REPORT 7 DECEMBER

Crime this week: Wed 5th/Thursday 6th a leaded window broken in house in Park View Road. No access gained and no property stolen. (Between Southdown Road and the Green). Tuesday 4th a generator was stolen from the front of a property in Butlers Dene Road (near junction with Uplands Road). Tuesday 27th approx 4.30pm A car parked in Gangers Hill Car Park had an attempt to steal fuel from the tank.

SCAMS: These are becoming more numerous and more sophisticated each day. The one shown below IS a scam and if the the resident (who reported this) had clicked on the links he would have had is details stolen! NEVER disclose your details on line. No bank will ask for your details on line. If you receive one similar to this do not answer it and phone your bank to check.

 REPORT 2 DECEMBER

Burgulary: On an unknown day last week a house in Lunghurst Rd was broken into (bottom end)

Crime: On Tuesday at about 1.00pm a car window was smashed in Park View Rd and a laptop was stolen a small bright blue car was seen near the vehicle. Location close to Buckland Cottage
Last Sat eve an attempt was made to force a car door parked in the village hall car park for a function.

Area Crime: There has been a lot of vehicle crime in the area recently. Expensive and high performance cars are the target and the police advise that these should be put away at all times and not left in the drive - especially over night.

Good News: The young man who stole the lead from the church roof has been sentenced to 36 months for this and other offences. The man living in a tent in Marden Park Woods is currently under police custody so will not be around for some time. I ha ve no further details at this time.

Credit Check: Following the chaotic goverment situation this week people are being urged to check th eir credit reference. This can be done by following the links here. If you are not able to do this yourself please ask a friend to do it for you.

 REPORT 16 NOVEMBER

Break In: Overnight Thurs/Fri an attempt was made to break into Woldingham rail station ticket office.

Update: CCTV shows a commuter waiting for a Taxi and breaking in?? British Transport Police will be dealing with this incident.

Suspicious Activity: A white Dormobile with trailer seen with six males in High Visibilty jackets in Southfields rd at 1:00pm Wednesday. Thanks to those who reported seeing this van to the Police, unfortunatly it was gone by the time they attended. (There were there within about 10 minutes and spent time searching).

Please if you see anything suspicious going on call the Police on 08451252222, this will be put out on the police radio and if Clive is in the village he will attend if not the nearest unit will respond.

 REPORT 9 NOVEMBER

Again, there is very little crime to report this week

Crime: On Tuesday eve at 9:20pm an attempt was made to break into a house in Station Rd (in between the junction with Croft rd and Southdown Rd)
Fly Tipping: Half a dozen black bags were deposited in Ganders Hill car Park Tuesday this week.

Good News: A young man has admitted to stealing the lead from our church roof (plus other offences) and was charged on 2nd November. He will be sentenced at Guildford Crown Court on 23rd November

 REPORT 2 NOVEMBER

I am delighted to report that the police crime report for the North Tandridge area shows no incidents in Woldingham. However there has been a high number of incidents involving thefts from vehicles - so do take care when parking your car not to leave items on show.

Man Jailed:- a man was jailed last week for falsely collecting sponsorship for Warlingham School. Thanks to all those who reported his activities to the police.

Marden Park Woods:- Thanks to a number of you who have reputed the man living in a tent in Marden Park Woods. I have asked for more details and will report as soon as I hear more. All I can say at this stage is that he is know to the police and they are aware he is there.


Please keep vigilant and report, to the Police, anything that may be suspicious.
