The Woldingham Players

Woldingham has a thriving Drama Society, founded in 1927, which aims to mount two full-length plays each year and enter the All England Festival of One Act Plays. Social functions include play readings, theatre visits and gastronomic evenings which are held in members' homes.

Among a membership of 140, about half are 'active' member while the remainder give staunch support to all the club's activities. Regular meetings of a strong committee ensure the smooth running of the Society.

We are very keen to find new members who are keen to help behind the scenes with props, costumes, scenery and lighting as well as those who are keen to act, produce and direct. Committee members for next year from September 2012 are also sought. Please do contact us you would be very welcome.

Woldingham Players up-date

The Players honourably defended their Winner's title in the Leatherhead Drama Festival for - although not winning again - all four actors in "One Season's King" received a Special Mention in the Best Adult Actor category, and they were one of the three Societies nominated for their Set and Stage Presentation for the Richard Houghton Award (which is given for 'outstanding contribution' to the Festival).
