Woldingham Playground Improvements

Help us raise funds for the Craigmyle Glebe (Charity No. 305147) to go towards improving the village playground. Wouldn't it be fantastic to have an updated playground in our village, with improved access paths and new equipment? An area in which our local youngsters can let off steam together, somewhere they feel comfortable and surrounded by a close-knit community? Parents, grandparents and carers too would benefit from the support and friendship such a place would generate.

National Lottery funding from the Big Lottery Fund

We are delighted to announce that we have received National Lottery funding from the Big Lottery Fund to purchase and install a climbing frame for the playground. The climbing frame is now in place and being explored and enjoyed by children visiting the playground.

Update of total funds raised

Our fundraising total has now reached £25,857, which is looking really good. Last winter we installed our first piece of equipment, the toddler adventure trail. This year we have added a roundabout, pod swing, new seesaw, new bench and climbing frame. Do keep an eye on the playground in the coming months as there are still more improvements to take place.

Funding from Woldingham Parish Council

We are delighted to announce that Woldingham Parish Council have offered us £4,000 to fund a new roundabout. The roundabout was installed at the beginning of May this year and has already become very popular with the children. Many thanks to the Parish Council for this generous contribution.

Great North Run

Jay Aston and Dave Colquhoun successfully completed the Great North Run last September. They have raised £630 plus Gift Aid. Congratulations and thank you Jay and Dave!!

NEWS - Village Picnic & Woldingham Association 111th Anniversary - Thank you!

Through the sale of cakes and raffle tickets we raised a total of £248 at the Village Picnic, which is fantastic. A very big thank you to everyone who helped and supported us. We are particularly grateful for all of the lovely cakes which many people contributed and for the donation of raffle prizes. This is a wonderful show of local support and we look forward to beginning the process of installing new play equipment in the playground this autumn.

NEWS - Millennium Fund Donation

The Millennium fund was formed in 2002 and although it was used on a number of occasions in the early years of its existence, over the last few years there has been little interest in utilising the fund for its intended purpose, priming village projects. During the last six months the future of the fund has been the subject of some deliberation both within the Woldingham Association and also by reference to those who were originally involved in the creation of the fund. The outcome of this process is that The Woldingham Association has taken the decision to wind-up and distribute the fund. Against this background they have decided to split the fund, currently standing at £4400, three ways between the two Village Halls and the Glebe playground refurbishment. Of the many suggestions tabled it was felt these would benefit the largest proportion of residents.
