> Go to the 2011 Winter Programme

The Woldingham Women's Institute is a group of women who live in and around the village, sharing a common interest in our neighbourhood. We get together regularly to listen to and discuss many and varied topics. It is an excellent way to meet new people and make local friends.

We meet informally in each other's houses about twice a month, taking into account school and bank holidays. Our events programme is usually scheduled for a Wednesday morning (10.00-12.00), but we have a few meetings on other days of the week or in the evening. We always start with coffee and of course a good chat and then usually have a speaker on an interesting or topical subject, ranging from homeopathy, or chocolate tasting; to counterfeiting, or our local rape crisis centre. We also organise coffee meetings once a month - just for a chat. Our meetings are always well attended so we hope we are successfully fulfilling a need for our members.

Although we are an all-female group, we do not forget our male partners entirely! Twice a year we have a social event with partners; involving perhaps a wine tasting, barbeque, or a talk on diamonds-very useful!

We are a very friendly and lively group with a diverse range of interests and backgrounds. However, the most important overriding aspect of our group is our fellowship with each other. We are proud of our community spirit. There is always someone to help out in a crisis or join in a dog walk. We like to cover all eventualities.

We are under the national umbrella of the Women's Institute (but are more calendar girls than jam and Jerusalem! don't panic - you don't have to take your clothes off for photos - it's just that we are a forward thinking group). The Women's Institute has a strong voice in society and campaigns for women's issues - see their website. Sometimes we do a little fundraising at local level to support good causes in the surrounding area.

Newcomers are always made to feel welcome - so why not contact us and try us out.
