Woldingham Parish Council
Invites all residents to attend the
ANNUAL PARISH MEETING
to be held on
Wednesday 3rd May 2017
Woldingham Village Hall
Guest Speaker: Will Curtis, Managing Director, Biggin Hill Airport
Refreshments 7.00pm, Meeting 7.30pm
Key issues that will be addressed:
– The development of Biggin Hill and what it means for Woldingham
– Update on Parish Council activities
– Implementation of the Neighbourhood Plan – especially the development of the Crescent
It has been nearly a year since the council saw not one but seven new members and in that time many issues have been tackled, not least of all the implementation of the Neighbourhood Plan. As you may already be aware this has now been accepted as part of Tandridge Council’s planning framework and has begun to shape the way in which local planning applications are dealt with. We are expecting this to be a hot topic of debate and that this alone will attract a good turnout, but, if that hasn’t whet your appetite enough there will also be wine and canapés for everyone to enjoy.
There is one thing that all members of the council have realised of late and that is that the sheer scale of the Neighbourhood Plan means that it will be a daunting and challenging task to accomplish all of the goals contained within without some help. Following in the spirit of the “Year of the volunteer” we are asking anyone interested in assisting us to please speak out and get involved. We literally cannot have enough heads and hands. The APM should be the ideal opportunity to meet with your councillors and volunteer your services. If you don’t have a particular issue before the event, then hopefully one of the presentations or discussions will rouse your interest.
As mentioned, the evening will consist of a number of presentations but will also be followed by a Q and A session. This will act as an open floor to voice any opinion, grievance or suggestion that you have with regards to the village or indeed the Parish Council. It really is the ideal opportunity to speak out and to shape the upcoming years agenda. Help us to understand what it is that the people of Woldingham really want and need for their community so that we can try and make the village the very best that it can be.
Other points of discussion will include the regeneration of the Crescent, parking around the village and the possibility that Woldingham could become the proud owners of the village green. That’s right. If you aren’t already aware Tandridge council have offered to give the green to the village meaning that we would have an open space to be shared by everyone. We would also become responsible for its upkeep however which makes this somewhat of a contentious issue. Do you have an opinion? Express it at the APM.
After the event we hope to move to the Village club to continue the debate in a more relaxed environment and hopefully a number of you can join us. So, please set the date firmly in your calendar. Bring your loudest voice. Be a part of something that can really change the place in which you live for a better future, for a stronger community.
