Our new feature hopes to highlight all the latest happenings in the village. Please send us your contributions e.g. births, marriages, exam successes….and anything else you want to share with us!

Thanks to the 'Litter Pickers'
If you didn't see the teams walking round the village with their big black sacks on Saturday, you probably will have noticed the results of their efforts - not a piece of litter to be seen! As part of our entry for the Surrey Best Kept Village competition, our thanks go to Frank Edwards and team for arranging this super effort. It's now up to us all to keep it looking good….

A story of some intrepid sailors!
After winning the bidding at the successful "Breakthrough" charity auction for a day's' sailing with the Howe family in the Solent, Jimmy, Diane, Tim and Sarah Hearn and their guests, Tom and Camilla Pedley arrived at the Hamble on a grey and windy June 2nd morning to tackle the elements. Fortunately, the weather improved (a bit) and a good Force 4/5 enabled a fast sail to Yarmouth for lunch and a trip ashore. The sail back was fast and uneventful except there were some complaints from the galley team protesting at washing up at 40 degrees!

Back in the Hamble the younger family members had some rowing and outboarding lessons which resulted in the inevitable - Tom falling in the very cold river but he climbed out quickly and got straight back into the boat he'd just fallen out of. Well done Tom!

Picture shows Jimmy Hearn, Camilla Pedley and Sarah Hearn steering Swan 41By-Pass.

Latest tally for the Breakthrough Breast Cancer Fundraiser…………£11,496.50
The total raised by Jill Meekings for Breakthrough continues to rise! The wine tasting/auction of promises raised a magnificent £5,337 and other sponsorship for the Nepal trek now stands at over £6,000. Even though the trek was successfully completed in February, the money continues to come in. Jill's trekking group raised over £125,000 which will all go to fund Breast Cancer Research. Thank you Woldingham for being so generous!

That's all for now. But don't forget the Table Top Sale in aid of the Scout Hut Appeal next Saturday (16th June) 11 a.m. in the Village Hall!
