NOTICE OF CHURCH OPEN DAY - 21 SEPTEMBER 2002

Quite a few churches in the area are having a Church open day on 21 September. St Paul's in Woldingham will be taking part and our church will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on that day.

In the morning, our organist David Ridout will be playing the organ for us from 10.30 till 11 a.m. and then the choir will be singing from 11 a.m. to noon. There will be coffee and biscuits. As well as this, we will be having a display of all the activities that happen at St Paul's plus details of our new church room, the history of St Paul's and, in the afternoon, some more singing with the Woldingham singers.

We hope as many people as possible will come to enjoy the day with us.

THE WOLDINGHAM WIBBLEY WOBBLEYS raised £5,000!

12 brave Woldingham ladies (aka the Woldingham Wibbley Wobbleys) took up the challenge to 'Walk the Walk' on May 11th in aid of Breakthrough Breast Cancer and Bristol Cancer Care - both very deserving causes. The walk was an overnight marathon and around 10,000 ladies, and 500 brave men pounded the London streets in their decorated bras! (Yes - the men as well!).

Not for the faint hearted - Here are some of us (before the blisters!) - The pictures of us plus medals (just to prove we did it!) will be posted soon!

This is the 5th year that the event has been run and the target is to raise £3 million. The Woldingham Wibbley Wobbleys' target was to make a significant contribution to this!!

Thanks to Woldingham we raised a tremendous £5,000!!!!

BUT as we are still collecting our promises - It's not too late to support us, please send your pledges to thewobbleys@woldingham.com (pr give to any of the team - there must be one near you!!!)

Our motive is to help remove the threat of breast cancer from our daughters' lives. Scientists believe this is can be achieved within a 15 year time frame - support Breakthrough whose research will help this happen sooner. Any donation, however small would be appreciated.

Thank you all for your support

The Wobbleys

THE QUEEN'S GOLDEN JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS

Woldingham celebrated in style with great success! Another date to go down in Woldingham's History!

The Golden Jubilee Review, with accompanying exhibition, took place in the Village Hall on Jubilee Day, 3rd June, and was a great fun and a huge success. It was a real community event, and played to very appreciative capacity audiences. The cast ranged from 5 years old to 85, and they acted, announced, sang and danced their way through the five decades of the Queen's reign with great panache and verve. Congratulations to everyone involved!

The Lighting of our Beacon (which could be seen from Pall Mall) was also a success attracting over 2,000 people. The fireworks rivalled those of the Palace - at least that's what it looked like to those of us up on Nore Hill! Our Thanks go to Colin Packington and Rodney Fuller for organising such a spectacular event.

In addition, the flower festival at St Agatha's was a wonderful sight and Jenny King and her team again should be congratulated.

Well Done Woldingham!

SORRY TO SEE YOU GO and WELCOME

Arthur and Elizabeth Herbert (who have contributed so much to the village over the years) have now moved to Devon and Rosemary Woodburn has moved to London.

But we welcome Frank and Catherine Myers who have moved into Rosemary's house (Woldingham House, Lunghurst Road) - welcome and we hope you enjoy Woldingham!!
