News Archive - 3 July 2008

The following items have been archived from the village website home page:

Jill Meekings

Sadly Jill lost her fight against cancer and passed away peacefully at home in the arms of Greg, Kiran and James on Friday 14th March. She made a major contibution to the village through her role as Chairman of the Parish Council. She was also inspirational in the work she did raising awareness of Breast Cancer and funds for Breakthrough. There will be a Celebratory Memorial service for her in April. Call Greg for details.

Car Parking at the Station

Police have been issuing Notices to people who park on the main road down from the Station. This appears to have dissuaded drivers from parking in this dangerous location.

123 Club

Local mums (and grandmums etc!) may be interested to hear that the 123 Club has moved! Having enjoyed many happy years at the Cricket Pavilion, it was felt that it was time for a change and the new Church Room is certainly proving to be a hit, both for the mums and their tots! We look forward to providing many more new mums with the opportunity to meet others in their situation. We hope that our exciting new venue will help us to sustain a local forum for new mums to get to know each other and hopefully to lay foundations for their tots to grow up with close friends in and around the village. Denise Todd on behalf of the 123 Club.

Woldingham Action Group (WAG)

The Village Hall was packed with residents attending a public meeting in the Village Hall on the 15th December. The meeting initiated support for a group formed to protect Woldingham and its immediate surroundings from any change or extension to HGV access to Chalk Pit Quarry. Visit our webpage to learn more about this potential VERY significant threat to our Village and pledge your support.
