Garden waste collections will not take place in the weeks beginning 23 December and 30 December 2019. Please check your garden waste calendar for scheduled collections.
You can place additional recycling in plastic carrier bags, cardboard boxes or clear recycling sacks bought from some supermarkets or online next to your recycling bin. Please don’t use black sacks, as the collection crew needs to be able to see it’s recycling.
If you often fill up your blue lidded recycling bin you can request another one at www.tandridge.gov.uk. You can also take your recycling to a community recycling centre or certain items can be taken to a recycling bank.
You can place additional rubbish in sacks next to your black wheeled rubbish bin and our collection crews will collect it on your first rubbish collection day after Christmas Day.
Please check the items you throw into your rubbish bin as so much can now be recycled. You can check what you can recycle at www.tandridge.gov.uk/recycling.
Recycling Christmas trees
Anyone with a real Christmas tree can recycle it in the following ways once the festive season is over:
- Take it to the Community Recycling Centres in Bond Road, Warlingham, or Chaldon Road, Caterham and put it in the garden waste container.
- Cut it up and compost it in your home compost bin.
- If you are a member of the Biffa Green Waste Club, cut up your tree (maximum tree trunk 4″ diameter) and put it in your bin for collection. Make sure you can still close the lid.
Snow, ice and severe weather conditions
In severe weather information about collection delays and cancellations will be available on www.tandridge.gov.uk, by signing up for one of our newsletters at www.tandridge.gov.uk/signup, e-mailing or calling 01883 722000.
Councillor Beverly Connolly, Chairman of the Community Services Committee, said “We hope all residents have a wonderful Christmas and New Year. Please continue to recycle everything you can. Non-glitter wrapping paper, many Christmas cards and packaging as well as bottles, jars, chocolate and biscuit selection boxes can all be recycled in the blue lidded bin. If you’ve any food waste please put it in your green food waste bin as it’ll be turned into fertiliser and compost, rather than it being taken to landfill sites.”
