Horticultural Society Lecture & AGM
14th October -6:30 pm - 9:00 pm
This essentially was postponed from last year BUT now we can all meet up again in the Village Hall on Thursday October 14th—6.30 for 7 pm . This event is open to all WHS members and friends and we also extend the invitation to our fellow horticulturists in the Warlingham Horticultural Society.
Lecture by Tom Hart Dyke ‘Plant Hunter & Gardener with Passion’
Tom Hart Dyke is a most amazing individual—almost unique in today’s world! He survived being kidnapped and held hostage in Columbia returning to us when the rebels decide they had had enough of hearing about his plans for his World Garden at Lullingstone Castle and decided to release him rather than shoot him!! He and his family then featured in a series about life at Lullingstone on the BBC—it was a fascinating insight into the goings on at the castle. I am told that his presentations are highly entertaining and great fun. Please do come along and meet with your fellow villagers.
If you are nervous about Covid please wear a mask and ensure social distancing. The Village hall is voluminous so the risk of Covid spread amongst a double vaccinated audience must be minute. We have not heard any reports of problems after the flower show. We would cordially request that any adult who has declined to be vaccinated should not attend. There are hand sanitisers in the Village hall.
It would be most helpful if you would E-mail me to reserve your places and give me an idea of numbers for catering purposes at:-
And as always if you know of members who don’t receive E-mails—please keep them informed.
We are most grateful to Minal and Mukesh Armin at our Village Store for Co-sponsoring this event.
