Village Club – December News Update
Woldingham Village Club would like to wish all of our members, magazine and website readers a very Happy
Christmas indeed!
We would like to thank you all for your support of the Club this year along with all of our events, from the beer festival, to the fundraiser for local lad Alfie Jeary, to our live music nights featuring amongst others the very local bands Parallel Sky and The Fog – both of which have villagers and Club members in them; a fundraising night for local charity The Lily Foundation, and just being visitors and supporters to the Club. We are truly grateful.
News from October has seen an extremely successful Member’s Night where we enjoyed a Casino night, hosting black jack and roulette tables. There was huge excitement buzzing round the Club when one lucky punter on the roulette table placed a seemingly impossible bet which came good and resulted in an enormous stash of chips heading his way – I believe it equated to £43,000 – which would have course been fabulous if we were playing with real money! We also had our Fancy Dress Halloween night with live music from Swansong where people came dressed in all manner of ghoulishly inspired attire.
We have still been holding our infamous meat raffle on a Friday night, followed by Member’s draw, which climbed to an impressive £145 and was won by one of our regulars Marie Saint-Esteban. Congratulations Marie!
Speaking of Christmas, we have a whole host of events coming up for your enjoyment, starting on Saturday 9th December with the Children’s Christmas Party where Father Christmas himself will be making an appearance with presents for all the children. Please note, if you wish your child to attend they will need to be ‘booked in’ with Neil and Julie so we can make sure Father Christmas has enough for everyone!
The next day, Sunday 10th December, we are very lucky to have the Salvation Army with us 2.00pm–3.30pm playing Christmas carols, something we have tried to do for a long time and are now able share with you all!
Throughout December we will be selling raffle tickets for our huge annual Christmas Draw, which will be drawn on Thursday 21 st December, there is a whole host of prizes to be won.
At a loose end Christmas Eve? Come on down to our Christmas Eve Quiz, always a great laugh and gets you well into the Christmas spirit – as well as maybe consuming a little Christmas spirit!
We are open on Christmas Day, from 12pm–2pm if you fancy a little tipple before your Christmas dinner, or you simply want some peace and quiet to finish off the Christmas dinner you can send everyone down to the Club for a little festive cheer.
On Boxing Day we host our annual Boxing Day bingo, feel free to bring along your own food and
make a bit of a picnic buffet for you, your friends and family to share.
As usual, we have a disco Near Year’s Eve, tickets available from the Club, don’t leave it to late as we do have a restriction on numbers. If it helps make your mind up we do offer free local taxi’s home. Please do check beforehand if your home is within the radius to avoid disappointment.
In closing, it has been a great year, you have all been fantastic, and we hope to see you all next year, either as a renewed member, a new member or a guest. If you wish to join as a member Neil and Julie would love to welcome you, membership application forms are usually on the bar, if not please just ask a member of staff.
Don’t forget, you can follow us on our Village Club Facebook Page or look at our Village Club web page and keep up to date with all future events and regular news from the Club.
