Message from SGM:
I am writing to make you aware of the forthcoming upgrade to our gas network in Southfields Road, Woldingham. Our project involves the essential replacement of old metal gas mains with new plastic pipe to ensure we continue to provide a safe and reliable gas supply to the local area. Our contractor, Essex Utilities will be undertaking this work on our behalf.
This safety-critical project needs to go ahead now, rather than wait until the coronavirus pandemic passes, to ensure your local community continues to receive a safe and reliable gas supply.
In close consultation with Surrey County Council Highways, our project will start on Tuesday 4 May and last approximately 8 weeks.
Our engineers will be working in Southfields Road from Slines Oak Road and progressing southwards towards Windlestraws, Southfields Road in phases. To keep everyone safe, we’ll have temporary traffic lights in place around our work area.
We’re working closely with UK Government and public health bodies to make sure we work in line with expert advice during the pandemic. We have extra safety precautions in place to protect our colleagues and our communities from catching or spreading the virus as we carry out our safety-critical project. There’s more information about our coronavirus response on our website: sgn.co.uk/coronavirus
Our engineers are be happy to answer questions at any time during our project. Please remember to keep a safe distance when speaking to our team or passing our site.
We understand that people can get frustrated by roadworks. However, the new plastic pipe has a minimum lifespan of 80 years. This means that when the work is complete, residents and businesses will continue to enjoy the benefits of a safe and reliable gas supply for years to come.
Please share this information with anyone you think may be impacted by our work.
Thank you for your support and if you have any further questions, please let me know
