Woldingham Parish Council – Update September 2019
Our Historic Bus Shelter
Among the varied assets that your Parish Council owns, we own the bus shelter on Woldingham Road, just below the station entrance. This is not just any old bus shelter, it is an historic bus shelter, donated by a benefactor in 1935, who donated to every village in Surrey beautiful oak and cedar bus shelters in Surrey in commemoration of the Silver Jubilee of King George V.
Weather and age have taken their toll on the shelter. And so the Parish Council have undertaken its repair and restoration. This lovely shelter has now been renovated and forms a piece of the history and fabric of Woldingham. The original copper commemoration plaque remains on the shelter, and it shall be complemented by a brass plaque from the Parish Council. Future plans include adding a Woldingham Countryside Walk map.
Your Parish Council are reviewing all the village assets and ensuring everything is in a good and attractive state of repair.
Works in Process
The Parish Council are always focused on key ongoing matters, including planning, the state of our roads, the quarry traffic and litter. We note that fly tipping seems to be on the increase. We are pressing our District and County Councils to help. Some of our residents have emailed or come to Council meetings to update us. Please keep us apprised of issues when you spot them so we can continue to be vigilant.
We are also continuing projects pursuant to our Woldingham Neighbourhood Plan (WNP). With the land behind The Crescent project nearly concluded, and only work from The Glebe remaining, we have turned our attention to the completion of plans for the Crescent itself and the open spaces adjacent to The Crescent. We are reviewing the WNP to ensure we continue to deliver on the plan. Watch this space and the Woldingham.com website for updates on all our work. And as ever, email our Parish Clerk with any feedback, comments or actions: karenwoldinghampc@outlook.com
